Program Hours
Coursework: 108 Hours
Our coursework curriculum will cover all aspects of becoming a well-rounded Pilates instructor. In-studio coursework days will cover the history, methods and technique utilized for every exercise on all apparatus, provide additional instruction on teaching techniques, variations, verbal cueing as well as modifications for various injuries and safety issues.
Self Practice: 145 Hours
These are the hours you will spend practicing what we've learned during coursework. It is the time to memorize routines, get the movements into your body, build strength, find your rhythm, and work on form. As a part of tuition I give each trainee a 50 groupclass pack to use as self practice to help build strength and become more familiar with routine flow.
Observation: 20 Hours
These hours are spent observing classes being taught in the studio or online. This is a great way to listen to how instructors cue out their classes, adjust form and modify in real time.
Practice Teaching: 210 Hours
This is the bulk of the program hours and some of the most important hours you will spend in studio. Practice really does make perfect! We give our trainees studio access to bring friends and family into the studio to practice teaching classes. Once a trainee reaches 90 hours, coursework days have concluded, and passed the practical test out, the Apprenticeship program opens. This is invaluable time spent in the studio that offers each trainee the opportunity to develop their own teaching style while benefiting financially from paid group class teaching with Aspyn Method clients to complete their final 120 hours.
500 Hours?!
I know. It sounds like a lot of time. I promise it goes by fast and can be done at your own pace! I've had trainees complete all hours in as little as 7 months or as long as 24 months. This program is designed to best serve you and your schedule.
